Ah the sweet hour of 3:30am…NOT! The last few days I’ve been getting up at 3:30 in the morning to do some highly focused work. Only it sucks. Oh sure, I get work done and that’s good because as I implied in the post Coming Full Circle it’s time for Jeffery to be serious…very serious.

I still have trouble lifting more than 5 pounds (that’s U.S. weight not British money) so returning to my regular job isn’t going to happen soon. I need this to make cash, enough to replace my income, and the sooner the better. Rent ain’t cheap ya know.

I had a minor setback today though. I’m not feeling well and although my sinuses aren’t yet at the point where it feels like one of those parasitic aliens from the movie “Alien” are about to explode out of my face, they are working up to it.

So after writing a few blog posts about working smarter, and adapting your schedule around to focus on certain tasks at certain times, I thought I’d share what I’m currently doing.

As I’ve said before, I do my best at the early early morning hours. Between 4am – 7am (sometimes only till 6).

So this is roughly how my day currently goes:

3:30am – Get up, throw on my sweats, turn on the computer, start the coffee, by the time I’m done with my Bible study both are ready to go…well, sometimes the computer is still sleepy, but I digress.

4am – 7am This is when I am at my most focused, undistracted-est, best-est. I write articles, blog posts, re-write PLR or anything else that requires my undivided attention.

7am – Whenever The next couple of hours I can still concentrate okay, but not well enough for something as intense as full blown writing. This is the best time for me to do things like catch up on other people’s blogs, forums (I usually just read), get some research done (if there’s parts of the research I really need to concentrate on, late afternoons or the next morning is when I’ll do that and just use this time to get the preliminaries out of the way) and submit articles.

Rest of the day – Sign up for things, Twitter, email, continue learning, etc.

Sometimes like yesterday, I stopped around 9:30am or so and went and did a few things and came back to it after 1pm. The break was helpful.

I’m trying to get to the point where I’m done by 10am and once I get faster at doing articles or blog posts, even earlier than that.

Today though, even though it’s only 10:30am and I’ve been working since about 7:30am, it feels like the whole day has been wasted. It’s harder for me to focus on this post and that’s even with a major part of it having been something I posted in a forum.

But, I’m serious, very serious about doing this. So I may not get as much done as I would have if I hadn’t decided to make the choice (and it’s a wise one if you value your health) to get some extra rest, but as you can see from this post, I’m going to get some things done.

Thankfully, I’ve already done quite a bit.

- Jeffery

p.s. If you want to read the original post I wrote on it, you can read it here: Working Smarter Not Harder Work When You Work Your Best
