Passwords here, passwords there, passwords passwords everywhere.
Do you have trouble keeping track of passwords?
Quite frankly, I hate passwords. I got to a point where I
couldn’t keep up with them all.
BUT, let me tell you how I manage them. I use a program called
Roboform I liked it so much I upgraded and bought the paid version, but you can try out the free version for a while.
Roboform is a password manager. It will keep track of your
login name and password for every site you allow it to. It will
even create secure passwords for you so you don’t have to think
them up yourself.
Whenever I go to a new site and fill in a name and password,
Roboform pops up and asks if I want it to manage that site for
me. I can use it to generate a password or enter my own. It
will also fill in other blanks like name, address, etc if you
want it to. That’s useful for filling out order forms or sign
up forms.
How does it help? Simple. You remember the password for
Roboform and Roboform remembers the passwords for everything
else. The free version will hold up to 10 sites for you, but
the paid version is unlimited.
It comes in a few flavors including the ability to be kept on a
flashdrive.
Now if you have a notorious habit of signing up for everything
under the sun like I do, your list of sites with passwords is out
of control. Even Roboform can’t make you exercise discipline.
So rather than self-improvement, I simply organized a little
better.
For example, I maintain three blogs: my main site
http://sweatyshop.com a blog on gardening and yard care
http://golfcourseyard.info and the blog and forum I set up
while making the e-book based on my old hobby of keeping fish
tanks http://saltwaterfishkeeping.com
So in Roboform I simply put BLOG – Blog Name. All my blog
sites and passwords are now grouped together and I don’t have to
hunt all through my list trying to find where I put such and such
site.
This really isn’t much of a review as there’s very little to not like about this handy piece of software.
So check out Roboform it truly is one of the smartest things I’ve done.
