Stop The Madness
By Administrator | April 14, 2009
Just stop. Really, it’s that simple. Harder to do of course, but it’s that simple…just stop.
I know, I know, you’re wondering, “What is he talking about?” Well, I’ll tell you that this will be one of many mentions on this particular topic and one of which I have the hardest time with…going overboard.
I do it with everything, blogging, internet marketing, affiliate stuff. I have a special e-mail address just for the multitude of lists that I’m on and it overflows many times a day. My desktop constantly gets cluttered with free gifts/reports/software/themes and whatever else I get for joining a particular list.
I’m not deluded, I know that those obscure file names won’t help me remember what I downloaded or why. More than once have I wondered what the name of that file was that had that one piece of information I wanted or needed.
I’m an information junkie. ‘I like it, I love it, I can’t get enough of it’ as the song goes. I’ve wasted more time being “productive” than I have by actually goofing off. One day I signed up to over 20 lists and spent most of that day confirming e-mail addresses, downloading the items, clicking on the “surprise bonus” downloads…and the list goes on.
I should mention that I don’t work on this 8 hours a day, but the amount of time I do spend is quickly wiped out.
There’s some people who are organized enough to actually (shudder) organize the stuff they download. Granted, they don’t have the problem that I do, but then they probably also don’t download the same amount of stuff that I do either.
If I just stopped and concentrated on what I have, I’d be miles ahead of where I am. I fantasize about polished websites, popular blogs, kicking back and relaxing. The reality is that being organized and disciplined are my biggest hurdles.
I already have tons of information on seo, blogging, Twitter, Squidoo, article marketing, traffic generation, website templates…the list goes on. Honest, it really does go on.
Time management is one of the best things you can learn and do. It doesn’t really matter what you are doing either, it’s a universal discipline. I’ve found Homepreneur Habits very helpful, it’s fairly cheap and you can get it here: http://tinyurl.com/arudp9
Now actually implementing this easy to do information is the hard part, for me anyway. It really is easy stuff, I just need to do it…right after this last download
